While the inquiry into Wander Franco’s alleged contact with a youngster named Francisco continues, there are already indications that his sporting future may be jeopardized.
According to a person acquainted with the case, “it’s highly unlikely that Franco will play for MLB again, considering the ongoing results of the investigation, which directly implicate him in allegations.”
According to TMZ, a reliable source, “Over the weekend, social media posts emerged depicting [Franco] in an inappropriate relationship with a minor.” Rez put him on the restricted list on Monday, and he hasn’t played since Saturday.
Aside from the MLB inquiry, ESPN reported on Wednesday that Franco is the target of an investigation in the Dominican Republic by the national agency for Child, Adolescent, and Gender-Based Violence, which specializes in cases involving minors. In addition, there have been reports of gender violence in the Peruvian region.
“This is a very delicate matter because it involves a minor,” Prosecutor Angel Dario Tejeda Fabal told the Associated Press. We’re collaborating with Judge Olga Dina Laverias.”
Laverias specializes in child abuse cases. Fabal stated that the inquiry is still in its early stages and that they are still gathering evidence.
“In the approaching week,” his words conveyed, “there exists the potential to advance with the inquiry while upholding the integrity of all indispensable data.”
Franco agreed to terms with the Rays on an 11-year, $182 million contract in November 2021. This season, the 22-year-old has 17 home runs, a.281/.344/.457 slash line, and 58 RBIs.
